Indiana COVID-19 deaths pass 15,000

Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb (R) has extended the state’s COVID-19 public health emergency while he is in discussions with health care providers about a new statewide executive order amid the state’s surge in coronavirus cases.

Health officials say about 97% of the people hospitalized in the state with COVID-19 are unvaccinated.

Tuesday, the Indiana State Department of Health reported 2,378 new COVID-19 cases and 89 new deaths.

The pandemic total in the state is now 956,548 cases and 15,069 deaths.

Dashboards are now being updated around 4 p.m. Central, instead of 11 a.m.
